Tea for 2 - Mixed Media Canvas

This week I created a shabby chic canvas using Blue Fern Studios new release Autumn Anthology.
Here is a photo of the collection.
The colour palette is very similar to Graphic 45 Gilded Lily Collection, although this range is more English Victorian in theme and Gilded Lily more French Rococo.

I covered the canvas in one of the papers then cut another paper to 11" square and tore of the corner.
I then glued this on top of the 12 x 12 paper.

Using texture paste and a stencil I created a 3D damask effect on the paper. Once dry I tinted this with distress inks and added some gilding wax.

The teapot started life as Blue Fern Studios Tea Medley chipboard. I then cut off the teacups and used a variety of techniques to bring the chipboard to life. I used pearl wands, embossing powders, paper.

The cherries are glazed with Glossy Accents and I used Tim Holtz stickles and rock candy glitter for the spoonful of sugar.  .

I cut up some more paper into postcard size pieces and edged one in embossing glitter. I also cut up ribbon strips to layer behind them. These became the mattes to my teapot centrepiece.

The hot air balloon was cut from one of the papers and I added
flowers and a teacup from the Tea Medley chipboard. I attached this with paper covered wire tinted with DI. The cute children were cut from another sheet and stuck on the teapot with PVA glue.

I added some pearl swirls and heat embossed die cut swirls to compliment the chipboard swirls.
The finishing touch was the mini tea-bags, which I created from vellum, string and embossing powders for the tea and staples.

Spirit of Autumn Greeting Card

This week marked the official start of Autumn in UK, so I decided to make an autumnal inspired card.
First using VersaColor Ombre ink in Mocha Truffle I stamped Indigoblu "Juliet" onto a lovely heavyweight paper by DCWV (Once upon a Time).
I edged the card with flitter glue then gilded it with Indigoblu megaflake in Royal Peacock. The Royal Peacock is a lovely blend of silver, bronze and gold with a hint of blue.
I then die cut lots of different size leaves with my handy new Sapphire and Ivy dies by Spellbinder.
These dies also embossed the veins on the leaves, which when buffed with Buff-it really adds depth and interest. I added some darker green on top in places with inks.
I then gilded some paper with the megaflake and die cut some leaves with this too. The die-cutting process seemed to add extra shine to the megaflake, and the leaves look almost as if crafted from metal.
Using Pinflair 3D glue I adhered the leaves to the card in a flowing pattern,  as if they were tumbing from Juliet's hair. The 3D glue gives a quick and easy raised effect, but small foam pads would also work well.
